Activity Assistant in Cedar Hill Health Care Center


Cedar Hill Continuing Care Community is seeking a part-time 30-35 hour per week activity assistant at Cedar Hill Health Care Center. Experience preferred. Growth potential for the right individual to advance to Assistant Activity Director in the next year.


Summary:

 Under the direction of Activity Director, the Activity Assistant will assist in the planning, coordination and implementing of the Therapeutic Activity Programs on a daily basis to meet the individual resident’s needs and interests.


Qualifications:

 The Activity Assistant needs to possess the following educational and experience requirements and support the following professional view points:


  • Have a thorough knowledge of various Resident Activities, and have a familiarity with Resident Activities, and have a familiarity with Resident limitations and needs.
  • Be able to work in close cooperation with the Activity Director, accept and utilize constructive criticism, and display initiative to complete activity-related tasks and programs.
  • Have successfully completed or be eligible to attend a state-approved Activity Course.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license (may be able to work around this, depending on circumstances.


Physical Requirements:

Must be in good physical shape and be able to lift up to 35lbs


Dress Code:

Must be neat and well groomed at all times


Responsible To:

Activity Director


General Hours of Work:

30-35 hour per week weekdays + every other weekend


Position Expectations:

  • Dependable punctual attendance
  • Assist/lead group one-to-one activity program
  • Assist residents to and from Activity Program
  • Report any changes in resident’s behavior, safety hazard, or procedural difficulties
  • Maintain an up to date daily attendance on each resident
  • Help decorate the facility for holidays and special occasions
  • Assist in maintaining equipment and supplies in a neat and safe manner
  • Ability to plan and implement evening and weekend functions as necessary
  • Ability to take part in In-service education and attend all In-Service sessions relating to the Activity program
  • Ability to follow Resident’s Rights Policies at all times
  • To be able to fill in for Activity Director for vacations, sick days, conferences or other times off as needed
  • The physical activities of this position involve balancing, climbing, crouching, fingering, grasping, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, and stooping
  • An individual in this position will be required to carry or lift 35lbs of weight
  • Ability to hear, see, smell and speak adequately to perform the functions of this position
  • An individual in this position will be exposed to inside and outside environmental conditions
  • Complete Feeding Assistant program and assist at meals
