THE VILLAGE: ACTIVITIES

We Believe Everyone SHOuld ENJOY Life to Its Fullest

The Village's active activity department works directly with our residents to plan outings, musical entertainment, exercise programs, crafts, board games, gardening, menus, movies, entertainment and a variety of other programs. We are always growing and changing along with our residents. Our emphasis is on coordinating with our residents to help them enjoy their talents, lifestyles and continue their community involvement.

In 2006 some of our in-house hits were our Winter Getaway Party, a springtime Butterfly Hatchery, and the popular Father's Day Car Show. We also had our first "We Love the Arts" art show with resident, staff and family artists contributing their works, including several Village resident artists.

Musically we are lucky to have in-house and visiting talent. Cedar Hill's chief gardener Terry Gulick frequently takes up the piano or keyboard for events. We enjoy guitarists, pan flutists, singers and musical entertainers. Every holiday brings new musical talent to our community rooms.

Another program we have here at the Village is our work with local schools. Every month during the children visit from a local school. As Village Resident Fran Flanders put it after a visit with a previous group of school children, "the Friday visits during the school year by the well-mannered students are a pleasure to which we look forward. I overheard one of them say, 'I can't wait till next week.' I had to ask 'Why? What's on?' and for me it was made the more delightful when I got the answer, 'Because we'll be coming here!'"

Outings

We have our own Village van so we can make frequent outings. We go out to area restaurants, shopping or just for a ride. We have visited a nearby Alpaca farm and a railroad celebration. We listened to musical talent at the Woodstock Opera House and the U.S. Army Band and Marine Bands in Springfield. We've headed out to the Quechee Balloon Fest with a picnic lunch.

We're lucky in our location. Windsor hosts the American Precision Museum, the Cornish Colony Museum and a growing group of restaurants and cafes that we enjoy. The Village is a short drive from Hanover, Lebanon,  Claremont, Woodstock, Springfield and Chester and just over half an hour from Montpelier and its attractions.

RELIGIOUS SERVICES

We do our best to help all of our residents attend the religious services of their choice, either at Cedar Hill or at a nearby church or synagogue. Cedar Hill has a pastoral counselor. She holds services monthly at the Village and also visits residents as needed. We have a monthly in-house Catholic service, as well as a member of a local Catholic parish who does Rosary with our Catholic residents.

Come visit the Village and enjoy one of our activities!
