Teddy's Place, a secure private wing separate from the rest of the Health Care Center, is designed to foster a safe and comfortable environment for persons with Alzheimer's Disease and related dementia. The relaxed atmosphere, combined with the knowledge, skill, and sensitivity of our specially trained staff, helps ease and adapt residents to the social and behavioral changes that can happen to them with this type of disease.

Our goal is to help each resident to enjoy a good quality of life, functioning at his or her highest level. All staff participate in ongoing, specialized education and training, learning and using proven, care-giving methods to best manage behavioral changes. These methods redirect and channel a resident's energy in a positive direction, helping him or her to enjoy a sense of accomplishment and a greater sense of personal value and meaning.

Our resident-oriented focus on providing a positive and enjoyable quality of life can be seen in the thoughtful design of Teddy's Place. Residents enjoy ample, safe walking and activity areas, both inside and out. Inside, radiant floor heating provides our residents with safe even warmth wherever they walk.

Soothing colors, plants, an aquarium and soft lighting create a peaceful environment. That helps decrease and even eliminate previous agitating and distracting behaviors.

We encourage families and residents to bring with them pictures and other personal treasures meaningful to the resident that they can keep in their private living areas. These both help the resident feel more comfortable, and help our staff learn the resident's own unique history.

We provide recreational programs throughout the day and evening, seven days a week. These specialized programs by our experienced staff incorporate and support our overall, resident-oriented goal by focusing on physical activity and social interaction. These keep the mind and body active, maintain social skills and minimize confusion. These programs also foster individual success and participation without fear of failure or criticism.

At Teddy's Place, we acknowledge the feelings of isolation, loneliness, and frustration memory loss causes.  The person, their families and friends all feel these. Here at Teddy's Place, our caring staff will listen and provide support.

We encourage family and loved ones' to play a role in planning individualized care for residents. We also encourage visits, volunteering, and helping with activities. We relieve caregivers from their daily struggles, so they can return to their role of special family member or significant other

We hope you will come visit us at Teddy's Place.
