Activity Calendars
Every day at Cedar Hill, there are many activities, trips, special meals, crafts, art, cooking, resident council, exercise, coffee hours, mind sharpening games, musical entertainment, cocktail parties or other events going on. We can't list them all here, but we try to give you a glimpse of what is happening each month.
Here's a sampling of different activities and events that took part in our community this summer.
Annual Family Picnic
September 13th we'll enjoying hosting families and residents for our annual family picnic. Families bring a side dish. We provide a BBQ and drinks and other fixins and entertainment. It is always a great day.
This is just one of many events we do with our residents' family and friends. They include an Annual Holiday Party, Holiday Dinners, Thursday BBQs, and Happy Hours (which families are invited to). We also love when families volunteer. We also have a family support group that meets monthly.
Happy Hours
We enjoy wine, beer, non-alcoholic drinks and snacks Friday afternoon and evening at The Village, Victorian House and the Health Care Center. Sometimes we have entertainment and sometimes we all just relax and socialize.
On August 29th, our Cedar Hill/Victorian House Happy Hour will be a Sock Hop.
Music
Village Music Group
In July, the Music Group - which often listens to LPs - enjoyed John Denver, Glen Miller and one of the resident's country music collection.
Victorian House and Health Care Center
We bring in a variety of entertainers to the Health Care Center and Victorian House. They include bands, flutists, singers, pianists and others.
Outings
The Village:
August 3rd, Village residents enjoyed an outing to listen to an evening of organ & pipe music at St. Francis of Assisi Church. The concert benefited the church's food cupboard.
On August 6th, Village residents attended an evening Moonlighters concert of Big Band Music.
This summer residents have also enjoyed concerts on the Windsor Green.
Victorian House and Health Care Center Outings
On July 31st, several residents enjoyed a picnic near Sunapee Lake and then a boat ride around the lake. Residents always look forward to apple picking in the fall and rides around the region.
Exercise
Village: Exercise
We hold exercise classes several times a week and also have exercise equipment for residents to use.
Victorian House & Health Care Center
We hold exercise class every weekday.
Spirituality
Cedar Hill and the Village have an ongoing pastoral presence with Rev. Connie Moser of the Ascutney Union Church, who does services weekly at Cedar Hill. She is also an ongoing resource to residents, families and staff.
In addition to Connie, we have a monthly Catholic mass and other religious services.
Dining Out
Residents at the Village enjoy dining out at least monthly. Recent trips have included The Weathervane and Dimick's Choice.
Shopping
We offer shopping trips to Wal-Mart bi-weekly and also to book stores and other places.
Resident Councils
Each residence (Village, Victorian House & Health Care Center) has its own monthly Resident Council where residents tell us what they would like to change or add or do. Of course, they can come tell us that anytime, but this gives our residents a formal council where they can actively discuss the life of the community as a group.
Pet Therapy
Cedar Hill is home to cats, visiting dogs and even a visiting horse. In the summer we host visits from the gentle horse Annie. We also have regular pet therapy visits and many families bring in their dogs to visit. We've even hosted baby lambs!
