Scenery, history, shopping & More
Located in the beautiful, historic Connecticut River Valley in eastern Vermont, Cedar Hill is near mountains, lakes, shopping, and four excellent hospitals.
Because of its location in Windsor, Cedar Hill is within a quick drive of Hanover, Lebanon, Claremont, Woodstock, Springfield and Chester. This locations makes it convenient for outings and visits from family and friends.
The river
The Connecticut River divides Vermont from New Hampshire. Beautifully clear and picturesque, it passes within a mile of Cedar Hill. A number of bridges span the river, from a modern Interstate concrete and steel in Lebanon to the Cornish-Windsor covered bridge, the longest in the world.
Ascutney Mountain
Cedar Hill sits near the foot of Ascutney Mountain, the highest point for miles around. Home to a ski resort and a state park, Ascutney forms a classic Vermont backdrop for our community.
Hospitals
Cedar Hill and its residents and families are fortunate to have four hospitals nearby and we use all four. Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center is only 3-1/2 miles away. Valley Regional Hospital is located 5 miles across the Connecticut River in Claremont, New Hampshire. Springfield Hospital is just 15 miles away. And Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, world-famous for its quality of care, is in Lebanon, NH, under half an hour's drive from Cedar Hill. Affiliated with Dartmouth College's Medical School, DHMC is one of the largest medical centers north of Boston.

Quechee and Quechee Gorge
Quechee, a small town to the north of Cedar Hill, is famous for it ups and downs. An annual hot-air balloon festival provides the highs, with huge multi-colored balloons drifting up and away. The famous Quechee Gorge supplies the lows, as the sides of the Gorge seem to drop away almost straight down to the river below.
Fall Foliage and Spring Maple Sugaring
Fall foliage doesn't get any better than the area around Cedar Hill. The Connecticut River Valley has long been famous for its vibrant autumn colors, and Ascutney Mountain almost vibrates in its brilliance.
Maple sugaring products are shipped all over the world as prized delicacies. Every spring brings modern plastic tubing and old-fashioned galvanized buckets out to collect the sap (sometimes called "Vermont gold") from tall sugar maples. The sap is boiled down to the desired consistency and flavor in "sugar shacks" such as the one pictured on the left.

The towns of Hanover, Lebanon, and White River Junction, known collectively as the Upper Valley, provide excellent shopping opportunities with over a hundred stores in a number of shopping plazas, malls, and downtown areas. The Upper and Lower Valleys also boast numerous restaurants and inns.
Vermont and New Hampshire also host dozens of small country stores, some of them owned and operated by the same family for generations.
